"WE ARE CARRIERS OF THE LIVING WATER"
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them”. (John 7:37-38). In this moment the song of Isa. 12 was sung. This speaks of water of salvation and the Holy One of Israel. Everyone knew that the Feast of Tabernacles was celebrated, amongst other things, the coming of God, the King, whose throne throws out “living waters” that brings salvation, healing, deliverance and life. (Ezekiel 47, Rev. 22:1).
Jesus was saying: I am that King! Come and drink! I am the Fountain of Life!
That is why Jesus told the Samaritan woman, “with the water that I give you to drink, you will not thirst again". Why? Jesus was more important than Jacob’s well. He is the fountain of the living water!
But Jesus says something else: “whoever drinks, he will become a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life". In other words:
When you drink of Me, I will give you life. When you enthrone Me in your heart, rivers of living water will spring up to bless other.
You are a carrier of My living water!
